For receiving messages, Cosmic SMS provides VMNs (virtual mobile numbers). Set-up and ongoing costs vary country by country.
The cost per message can vary depending on the country you are sending to. For each country there is a flat rate charge per message. For the UK the cost is 3p. Full details of message costs globally can be found here.
Your message credit will never expire and can be used as little or as often as you wish.

Online message credit pre-pay top-ups can be made using a payment card and this is the quickest way to add credit to your account and is done automatically when the transaction has completed. Cosmic also accepts pre-pay payment by BACS. Post-pay arrangements can also be provided for and are considered on a customer by customer basis.
Yes, Cosmic takes security very seriously. Your contacts and message data is held on its SMS platform which is hosted in a secure environment with the additional protection of a WAF (web application firewall) to restrict access and protect against common attacks. Secure end-to-end encryption is provided for customers that connect to the Cosmic SMS platform.
No, Cosmic does not hold any payment card or bank details on its servers. When you click on the ‘Submit’ button to purchase SMS credit the payment details are sent securely to the payment provider, SagePay, who process and authorise payments via Cosmic's bank, the HSBC. Cosmic SMS is PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) compliant.
You can check the delivery status of individual messages via the ‘Sent Messages – Itemised’ page. Sent messages are display 1 per line and each shows a colour coded circle indicating the delivery status: Green – Delivered, Amber – Unconfirmed and Red – Failed.
Delivery statistics can also be found for batch submissions (a single message to more than one recipient) on the Sent Messages – Summary page.
After logging on, the balance of your current SMS credit is displayed at the top of each page and is updated automatically after each message send.

From the Login page, click on the ‘Forgotten your password?’ link, enter your user name and email address and Cosmic will send you a link which takes you to a page where you can reset your password – this link will remain active for 30 minutes.

Cosmic provides a web based SMS service, so all you require is an internet connection to enable you to log on via the Cosmic website to send messages. Cosmic SMS credits cannot be used to send messages via your mobile phone.
Messages sent from Cosmic SMS are typically delivered to the phone within a few seconds. SMS messaging is a ‘store and forward’ system – Cosmic submits the message to the mobile networks, which then forward it to the phone – so short delays are possible but generally rare.
Yes, Cosmic SMS is a 24/7, 365 days a year service.
The maximum length of a message supported by the Cosmic SMS system is 612 characters, which uses four messages credit. A single message can be up to 160 characters in length. Messages longer than 160 characters are split into 153 character segments (4 x 153 = 612). The first seven characters of each message segment contain information that enable the receiving phone to display the segments in the right order as a single message on the handset.
Definitely not. When you open an account with Cosmic you are not under any obligation to use our services for any period of time. You can choose to use the service any time you wish.
Cosmic can deliver to most countries globally. Some countries, due to political or other issues, can make this a challenge sometimes, but by utilising best quality connections via Cosmic's upstream partners it has most of the world covered most of the time.
The USA and Canada are exceptions in as much as SMS traffic to these countries is required to be registered beforehand. Please contact Cosmic if you have a requirement to send to the USA or Canada.
Cosmic SMS do not provide any marketing data. It purely provides the delivery system for your messages.
